Gareth.T, Hong Kong singer-songwriter. Growing up on Tsing Yi Island, he was inspired by Eminem and black teachers from the UK, and listening to Michael Jackson’s music as a child, which led to his fluency in English. In 2017, he enrolled in the Bachelor of Music programme at Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, where he graduated in May 2021 with a double major in Contemporary Music Writing and Production and Electronic Music Production and Design.
He has been releasing singles on all major platforms as an independent artist since 2018. His first English single ‘Faith’ was released on 6 February and his debut digital EP ’18’ was released on 13 October.In 2020, he joined indie label Umami Records and released the English single ‘Best Me I Can’, which was written with his grandmother as a backdrop. After meeting Nicholas “Big Spoonful”, the rapper and head of Warner’s Hip Hop + R&B division in Hong Kong, Gareth.T joined Warner Records in early 2021 after confirming that signing to a record label would not affect his creative freedom. In the same year, he released his first English single “Boyfriend Material” after joining Warner Records, which was first released on all major platforms and received over one million views on YouTube in less than four months.
In 2021, Gareth.T started to collaborate with other singers as a composer, including Zhang Mei Ye’s “The Last Dusk”, Jeung To’s “Master Class”, “December” co-written with Tyson Yoshi, and MIRROR’s “12”, of which the music video for “12” also features Gareth.T as a guest performer.
In 2022, Gareth.T moved to An Asiatic Records under Warner Records (Asia Pacific) with his manager “Big Spoon”, and released his debut album “To Be Honest” in the same year. The English single “Confidence” debuted at No.20 on the Metro Powerful Foreign Language Chart. The English single “Confidence” debuted at number 20 on the Metro Power Pop Foreign Language Chart.
