Shangri-Shangri-La is calling
The Chairs is a Taiwanese three-piece band, all three members of the Taichung First High School Folk Guitar Club. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Wing Ching, vocalist/guitarist Chung Ying, and bassist Bo Yuan, and won the “Best Vocal Group” at the 30th Golden Melody Awards in 2019 for their second album Lovely Sunday Lovely Sundae.
The main trio of male vocalists is again reminiscent of the acoustic guitar choir, Indy, and other sources that have been passed down since the folk song era. Looking at Wing Ching’s guitar-clutching face, one always feels that the place where one meets them should not be in Kunming, but in a folk song restaurant in Taichung in 1970.
